Cleft lip & palate care · reconstructive and craniofacial surgery · revision

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and the lead physician of this site’s cleft care content. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice.

His reconstructive practice covers the operations that cleft care is built on: repair of congenital differences of the lip and palate, reconstruction of defects after trauma and tumour surgery, and correction of failed operations from elsewhere. He leads the cleft service and the sequence of care it coordinates, from the first assessment through to adult review. Two decades of tertiary-hospital surgery inform every opinion he gives.

Care that spans a childhood

Cleft care is not finished when the lip is closed. Feeding, hearing, speech, teeth and growth all need watching into adulthood, and the plan has to be reviewed as a child grows. What we offer is exactly that: a lead who stays with the family across the sequence, and the full resources of a tertiary general hospital behind every stage of it.
